I'm starting this Fish report with some basic information for
people looking for a Charter.
Fishing on Lake Michigan is "NOT"
going to be what it has been in the past 3 to 5 years. That means
there probably won't be any leave the dock and be back in 2 or 3 hours
with a 9 to 15 fish limit of large fish. Catches will be smaller. You
will catch fish, and you will have a nice trip with the anticipation
and excitement of catching Salmon and Steel head. I personally try my
hardest to put every advantage in your favor of catching fish. That is
why I like to leave early or stay out late.
To get up at 3:00
a.m. and have a boat ready to go at 5:00 a.m. takes dedication. But
that's what it takes to be consistent on catching fish. If it is
difficult for you to make a morning trip an evening trip may be the
best bet. Especially for young people. I will leave the dock when ever
you want to, but the results may not be what you expect!
I
fished everyday since last Thursday. Caught between 6 and 9 Salmon per
trip. Sunday morning I caught some huge Steel head 3 fish in the 9 to
12 lb range.
The Salmon are still running small. Caught a few
10 to 14 lb fish. Catching a lot of small fish. If you want to catch
Salmon you need to get up early, or stay late. Most fish are caught in
the first half hour and last half hour or daylight.
To all of
the people checking my fish report, the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa
Chippewa tribe has installed a trap net between Glen Haven and the
Coast Guard station. Please STAY ALERT.

Friends, The Watta Bite Charter
Fishing Reports are written by me, Captain Bill. They
are all accounts of my fishing experiences. I will not
use information from other fishermen. I have to know
what's going on before I write, that way you, the customer or
potential customer, have facts to work with when choosing a
charter. -- Captain Bill |
